Sheffield Chinese Health Project

Since April 2016 the Sheffield Chinese Community Centre has been awarded the funding by the Sheffield City Council to run the Sheffield Chinese Health Project. It is a three years city-wide project and it provides a wide variety of health services including confidential advocacy;
health talks & workshops, information, counselling, befriending, trips, healthy eating & lunch club; Tai-Chi class, art therapy & massage therapy, etc. for members of Chinese Community in Sheffield who are affected by issues relating health and social care, mental health and wellbeing, social isolation and loneliness.

Sheffield Chinese Health Project will work with volunteers to engage members in health activities and opportunities through which it can:

• Improve their health & wellbeing
• Promote Five Ways to Wellbeing for improving mental & emotional wellbeing
• Provide support to members with mental health issues
• Help them to achieve better quality of life
• Develop individuals' potentials and skills, compassion and care; and to be able to help others
• Advocate, facilitate social, health and wellbeing development and education for individuals and the community.

In addition, the project will give support to carers through activities, events, information and skills development & learning, it also encourages and gives support to the elderly members and individuals to live independently with better health management and reduce loneliness & isolation.
